In 1663, King Louis XIV of France and the Director-General of the Exchequer, Colbert, decided to hold an exhibition to display the works of members of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. This exhibition later became known as Le Salon. Masters such as Delacroix, Millet, Manet, Cézanne, Renoir, and Monet made their names known at Le Salon, the world’s oldest public exhibition.

2023 is the 360th anniversary of this exhibition’s founding. 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Seiki Kuroda, who worked hard to develop Western painting in Japan after being selected for Le Salon. This book has been published to commemorate them.

This book will be donated to Musée du Louvre, Musee de l’Orangerie, Musée d’Orsay, Grand Palais, Musée d’Art Moderne, Musée Picasso, Petit Palais, Center Pompidou, Musee Marmottan, Musee Rodin, etc.
